TEMPE– The No. 8 Sun Devil Softball team placed five Sun Devils to the Division I All-West region, including four to the first-team. The NFCA announced the honors Thursday afternoon.
Juniors Jazmine Hill and Lindsay Lopez and senior Yanni Acuña and freshman Cydney Sanders were all named to the Division I All-West region first team, while junior Alynah Torres was named to the All-West second team.
Hill, Lopez, Acuña and Sanders have been named to the NFCA All-West Region First Team for the first time in their careers, after being named to the Pac-12 All-Conference teams last Wednesday. Last season, Lopez was named to the NFCA All-West Region Second Team while Torres and Hill were on Third Team.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third teams selected for each region. The all-region teams were voted on by NFCA member coaches from each respective region, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to one of three 2022 NFCA Division I All-American teams.
The 2022 NFCA Division I All-America teams, voted on by the NFCA DI All-American Committee, will be announced on Wednesday, June 1.
