SAN FRANCISCO– Coming off the first series win against No. 4 UCLA since 2015 and solidifying control of the Pac-12 with three games left to play, Lindsay Lopez has been named Pac-12 pitcher of the week after throwing two complete games and earning two wins this past weekend for Sun Devil Softball.

"Lindsay's performance this weekend was tremendous and I am excited to see her continue to work and get better for our team," said head coach Trisha Ford. "She is getting stronger and more efficient as the weeks go by and I cannot wait to see what else she has left in the tank."

In the series opener on Friday, Lopez struck out seven, allowed only one walk and one run to take the first game of the series.

Following up on her Friday performance, the Arizona native got the start in a pivotal game on Sunday, where she continued to dominate the strike zone, forcing 11 ground outs, seven fly outs, striking out one batter in an efficient 76 pitches. The junior threw two scoreless innings and a five-pitch seventh inning to help the Sun Devils comeback to keep the Bruins off the board.

For the season, Lopez has a team-best 1.56 ERA, ranks second on the team in strikeouts with 66 and has allowed the fewest earned runs on the team with 21, tied with Marissa Schuld. Since Pac-12 play began in March, the junior ranks second in conference with eight wins and has pitched 94.1 innings which ranks the most on the team. This is her second career honor after earning Pac-12 freshman of the week in 2021.

She is the second Sun Devil to earn a pitcher of the week honor this season, joining Marissa Schuld who won the honor on March 28th after pitching the first perfect game in program history since 2017 against Arizona on March 27th.  Lopez is the seventh different Sun Devil to win a Pac-12 award this season.

The Sun Devils will travel to Seattle to conclude the regular season this weekend, Friday, May 13 – Sunday May 15 as they take on Pac-12 opponent, Washington. All games can be seen on Pac-12 Network this weekend.
