SAN FRANCISCO - Jorinde van Klinken earned Pac-12 Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors, the conference announced today. Van Klinken had season-best marks in both the shot put and discus this past weekend at Arizona State's Twilight Invitational. This is the second conference Athlete of the Week nod for van Klinken in her career (March 25, 2021).
Van Klinken extended her national lead in the discus by 13 inches (63.72m/209-0) and improved this season's outdoor shot put mark by 1.3 inches (18.44m/60-6.00) for an outdoor shot PR. She previously led the NCAA heading into the Twilight Invitational, but Ohio State's Adelaide Aquilla jumped her at the Jesse Owens Classic in Columbus, Ohio. Prior to Aquilla's mark, van Klinken was the only athlete in the NCAA to lead the country in two disciplines.
The Sun Devils have one final meet this season before the Pac-12 Championships. ASU will send a small group to Arizona's Desert Heat Classic this Saturday. The Pac-12 Championships run May 13-15 at Oregon's Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
