BALTIMORE, Md. – Sun Devil Lacrosse's Taylor Pinzone was named the Prime Time Lacrosse National Player of the Week, Inside Lacrosse announced on Tuesday.
Pinzone becomes just the second player in program history to win a National Weekly Award, the first since Kerri Clayton accomplished the feat back in 2018 following the first week of the Sun Devils' inaugural season. She beat out some stiff competition for the award, as North Carolina's Jamie Ortega, Syracuse's Meaghan Tyrrell, and USC's Kelsey Huff were also nominated.
Since arriving in Tempe, Taylor Pinzone has blossomed into one of the best midfielders in the conference. Through 11 games of her Sun Devil career, she already has 23 goals and seven assists (30 points). In 50 games at Northwestern, she had 34 goals and six assists (40 points). Head Coach Tim McCormack recognizes the importance of what Pinzone brings to the table.
When the Sun Devils needed her the most, Taylor Pinzone came through in the 13-12 overtime road victory over No. 14 Rutgers. She was brilliant back in Big Ten territory, finishing with five points (two assists and three goals). None of those points were bigger than the one that came with less than a minute left, as she showed fearlessness in pursuit of the game-tying goal. She dodged several defenders on her way to closing the distance on the goalkeeper. What happened next will go down in Sun Devil lore, as she tied the game up at 12 with a massive goal. Pinzone wasn't done hurting the Scarlet Knights, as she was credited with the assist on Carley Adams' game-winning goal. Thanks to her efforts, she was named National Player of the Week by Inside Lacrosse.
MAKING A B1G DIFFERENCE
Taylor Pinzone's presence has been felt all season, but there is no denying she plays her best when pressure is the highest. She has done her best work against her former conference while helping Arizona State navigate a extremely difficult schedule. In three games against Big Ten competition (No. 11 Michigan, No. 5 Northwestern, and No. 14 Rutgers), Pinzone has accounted for five goals and four assists (nine points), with all of those contests coming away from home. The win over No. 14 Rutgers was the first over a Big Ten foe in program history in the Scarlet Knights' first game against a Pac-12 opponent. Taking it a step further, Pinzone has been productive against Top-25 competition (14 points in seven games), consistently showing that she has the ability to rise to the occasion.
PEER REVIEW
Not only has the coaching staff notice the influence Pinzone has had on the program, so have her teammates. She has made a seamless transition to Arizona State, fitting in the locker room and immediately establishing herself as a leader.
"Her impact has been huge, she brings high energy and competitiveness to every practice," redshirt senior attacker Emily Glagolev remarked. "Everyday at practice she comes wanting to win no matter what drill we are doing and that competitiveness spreads to each person on the team."

"Pinz has been a tremendous addition to Sun Devil Lacrosse," Coach McCormack reflected. "She brings great experience having played in many big games. She is one of the most fierce competitors I've ever coached which we see every day in everything we do. Pinz has ultimate trust in her teammates as well, understanding that she can rely on them at any turn. On Sunday, she stepped up in all areas of the field and finished her shots. She's someone who embodies our core values and has helped set the tone for Sun Devil Lacrosse."
