SAN FRANCISCO - One meet in and a pair of Sun Devils earned conference honors and are in the national conversation. Jamar Marshall Jr. (110H) and Beatrice Llano (hammer) earned Pac-12 men's track and women's field athlete of the week honors for their respective finishes at Arizona State's Baldy Castillo Invitational. It was the first outdoor meet of the season, and their finishes rank second in the NCAA thus far. Marshall was also a part of ASU's 4x100 team that now sits fifth in the country.
Full Pac-12 release
Marshall ran a 13.60 in the 100m hurdles, winning the event and putting himself second in the NCAA. If he wasn't already the program record holder at 13.49, his time this past weekend would rank sixth in ASU history. He followed that by running the third leg of ASU's second-place 4x100m relay, which posted the fifth-best time in the nation this season (39.45).
Llano threw the hammer 67.52m/221-6, winning the event by eight feet. She too sits second in the country after opening weekend.
ASU hosts its second meet of the season this weekend March 25-26. Arizona State, Arizona, GCU, Minnesota, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Nebraska, New Mexico, and Sacramento State are all set to come through Tempe. Full meet info is available here.
