"Just a ton of resilience from the guys today," head coach Matt Hill said. "Credit to UCSB for really putting us in some tough spots and fighting back really well in some second sets. We got a ton of the first sets but then they really kept clawing their way back in, which every great team does, every great competitor does. So it was expected, we know how good they are, we know how well they're coached and I thought our guys handled it pretty well for the most part, enough to get themselves across the line for sure."

"I thought Fabian did a fantastic job on court two beating his guy, and he was really in control for 90% of the match and the guy did a great job at the very end of the second set getting it back to a tiebreaker and putting the pressure back on us. But Fabian closed it out really well. Our guys at five and six that stepped up and clinched our match again were huge too." Hill continued,  "I mean Jonah Wilson clinching again for a second time - and these are the first two matches of the whole season for him. To step off the bench and step in and win matches at line five is really impressive. I mean, we know how good of a player Jonah is, but you know, it's still not easy when you haven't gotten a lot of reps, so it was really impressive. Then, Moritz - the same thing for both those guys. It's been really good."

How it happened
The Sun Devils started the day out strong in doubles. After a 6-3 setup at No. 1, George Stoupe and Fabian Salle won on court two, 6-2, and Moritz Hoffman and Jonah Wilson clinched the point with a 6-3 win at No. 3.

ASU continued its hot streak in singles, Salle securing a 6-1, 7-6 victory on court two to put the Sun Devils ahead 2-0. Hoffman then took the win on court five 6-3, 6-3, and  Wilson came out battling on court five for the 6-3 7-6 clinch for the second day in a row.
