Arizona State Junior David Puig has been named the Ben Hogan Golfer of the Month presented by PNC Bank for the month of January. This is the second time a Sun Devil has claimed the honor this season, with Cameron Sisk claiming the September award.
Puig, a junior from La Garriga, Spain began the spring season at the Southwestern Invitational which was played at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif. Puig was defending his title from last year, as he posted a three-round score of 208 (-8) to win by two shots and become the first ever back-to-back winner in tournament history.
Puig is a member of this year's Ben Hogan Award watch list and a past award semifinalists in 2021, Puig is the No. 7 ranked player in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and No. 8 Scratch Players world golf ranking. This was the third time in Puig's career that he was a finalist for the monthly award.
The two other finalists for the award were Arizona's Christian Banke and Arkansas' Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira.
