With the first day in the books, the Sun Devils finished on top of the 19 teams competing at the Amer Ari Intercollegiate in Kamuela, Hawaii.

Led by graduate student Mason Andersen, the Sun Devil men's golf team finished the day with a combined 20-under 268. Andersen ended the day tied for 1st with fellow Devil, James Leow, who is playing as an individual for this tournament. Andersen and Leow shot 7-under 65 on the day while ASU freshman Preston Summerhays shot 6-under 66, birdying four of his last seven holes. Summerhays ended the day tied for third.

Coming off his back-to-back Southwestern Invitational title win, David Puig finished even on the day with the team's sole eagle. Texas Tech, Washington and Oklahoma State all finished tied in second at 15-under 273. The Sun Devils look to continue their success at Hapuna Golf Course (par 72, 6,875 yards) through Saturday, Feb. 5.

Arizona State, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Oregon, Georgia Tech, UC Davis, Texas, Pepperdine, North Carolina, Oregon State, Hawaii at Manoa, Hawaii at Hilo, San Jose State, Texas Christian, Texas Tech, Auburn, Pacific, UCLA and Washington.
