Sun Devil Baseball's Ethan Long Named Pac-12 Player of the WeekSun Devil Baseball's Ethan Long Named Pac-12 Player of the Week
PHOENIX – Sun Devil Baseball's Ethan Long has been named the Pac-12 Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office today, becoming the 152nd all-time Sun Devil to earn the Player of the Week nod from the league.

Long, a true freshman, had his best week as a Sun Devil with four home runs over five games – including two of the go-ahead variety in ASU two victories and series win over Utah.

Long opened the week with a big three-run shot early in ASU victory over GCU, which wiped the slate clean after ASU fell behind early and inevitably proved to be the difference in a 13-10 victory.

Down to the Sun Devils' last strike of the ninth inning in a 4-4 game against the Utes on Friday, Long took one for a ride down the opposite field line for the go-ahead shot and a demonstrative trot around the base path.

Less than 24 hours later, again in a 4-4 tie against the Utes, Long launched a two-run go ahead homer in the fifth inning to put ASU ahead of good, adding a monstrous solo home run later in the game for the first two-home run game of the season for a Sun Devil in a 10-6 victory.  He posted four hits on the day with two homers and a double included.

Long bat .450 over five games this week (9-for-20) with a .522 OBP and a gaudy 1.100 slugging percentage, recording seven RBI and five runs. Five of his nine hits on the week were for extra bases.

Long is batting .341 on the season now, second on the team and tied for the lead with five homers and just shy of the team lead in slugging percentage at .588.  He is batting .386 in Pac-12 games with 10 extra-base hits on 22 hits and a team-best 16 RBI.

Despite only being insert into the starting lineup over a month into the season and having 40+ fewer at-bats than many of his teammates, Long is third on the team with 11 hits with runners in scoring position.

The Sun Devils return to action on Tuesday in a rescheduled midweek non-conference matchup against BYU at 10:30 a.m. AZT.
