Arizona State (8-4, 5-3) is in the midst of a seven-game conference stretch, going 4-2 so far in the most important part of the season. This weekend, they have one home and one road contest to wrap up the regular season.
Another Pac-12 showdown looms, as the Sun Devils will honor a legendary senior class after taking on USC on Friday, April 23 at 3 PM MT. In the first meeting between the two sides, the Sun Devils cruised to a 20-9 victory, their first in program history over USC. The implications for the Pac-12 Conference standings and Pac-12 Conference Tournament seeding are substantial, as both teams will enter with a 5-3 conference record. Fans at Sun Devil Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium have been treated to brilliant lacrosse, as ASU is 6-1 at home in 2021, outscoring opponents by a total score of 130-76. During Coach McCormack's tenure, Arizona State is 9-2 at home after going 5-12 in the program's first two seasons under the previous coaching staff.

SENIOR DAY CEREMONIES
Sun Devil Lacrosse will honor a total of 14 student-athletes who were all foundational pieces of the program. In a pre-game ceremony, Sun Devils for life Kristina Coppinger and Mia Harp will be properly honored, after not receiving a senior day last season. The duo was a crucial part of building Sun Devil Lacrosse, a part of the program from the very beginning.
After the game, 12 current seniors will be honored on the field. A legendary group that will has cemented their legacy within the program will play at Sun Devil Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium one last time. Berkeley Bonneau, Kerri Clayton, Maura Cissel, Taylor Carson, Kate Dougherty, Avery Hamill Haley Gorke, Graci Fulkerson, Hanna Schuler, Campbell Poe, Caryn Takeuchi, and Brittany Chamberlain will be recognized for their contributions and dedication to the program.

The Trojans are led by Lindsay Munday, who is in her ninth season at the helm in Los Angeles. USC is 8-6 overall, coming off a split of the Bay Area schools. Izzy McMahon leads the way offensively, recording 47 points (28 goals, 19 assists) in 14 games. Kelsey Huff and Ella Heaney are also over the 30-point plateau for an offense that averages 14.1 goals/game. In the cage, Riley Hertford has started 13 of 14 games, playing 760 of a possible 844 minutes. Hertford has 108 saves and a save percentage at 41%.

Last season, the Sun Devils fell in heart-breaking fashion 19-18. They were able to get some revenge in 2021, opening up the campaign with a 23-10 win over the Aztecs at home.
San Diego State is led by Kylee White, who is in her tenth season as the head coach in San Diego. They have a 5-7 record so far, having defeated Pac-12 opponents California (2x), Oregon, and USC. The Aztecs picked up a win over Fresno State last Saturday and will not play this week before taking on the Sun Devils.
The San Diego State offense is paced by Emily Resnick, who has 20 goals and 21 assists in 12 games. Bailey Brown and Lexi Tan each have 25+ points of their own for an offense that averages 10.7 goals per game. In net, Katy Sharretts has started all 12 games, making 136 saves at a 46% clip.

"I was glad that I could get down on the attack end for a quick second, I miss those girls during the game haha, but it wouldn't have been possible without the defensive unit helping clear that ball over," Hood added.

Olivia Hood was selected as the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career. Arizona State has now had 12 individuals receive the top weekly conference honor in Head Coach Tim McCormack's two seasons, after previously only winning the award three times in the two prior seasons.
Of the possible 18 recipients of a Pac-12 Player of the Week award in 2021, nine have been Sun Devils. ASU has earned six offensive and three defensive player of the week selections, an indication of the balance of the team.
She finished the weekend with four ground balls and four caused turnovers, helping Arizona State earn a split with the Bay Area schools.
In the 11-7 victory over Cal, Hood and the Sun Devil defense overwhelmed the Golden Bears' attack, giving up only seven goals, including one over the final 14 minutes. Hood's aggressiveness and relentless pursuit of her matchup were big factors in containing the Cal offense.
She also provided a spark offensively, clearing a ball and taking it coast-to-coast to earn a free-position attempt. Hood cashed in on the opportunity, scoring her first goal of the season and sixth of her career.

Arizona State (8-4, 5-3) swept the season series with Cal for the first time behind the strength of an overpowering defensive effort. The Sun Devils allowed seven goals, with only two coming over the final 28 minutes of the game. Head Coach Tim McCormack's team scored six of the final seven goals to take control of the game and earn their third straight win over the Golden Bears.
The team was led by Gigi Gaspar, Bella Gaspar, Sydney Payne, Olivia Hood, and Mallory Martel, who each executed their role perfectly allowing the Sun Devil defense to lockdown the opposing attack. Cal committed 21 total turnovers, 10 of which were forced by the aggressiveness and hustle of the defensive unit. The group also helped ASU maintain a 25-21 advantage in ground balls.
Offensively, the Sun Devils received contributions from a number of players, but a special assist stands out amongst the rest. Emily Glagolev fed Maddy Hunter for a goal with 3:48 left in the game, representing the 100th assist of Glagolev's career. She becomes the first Sun Devil to reach the mark, doing it in only 55 career games. She finished with three points on the day, which matched teammate Carley Adams for the team lead. Adams scored another hat trick, tying Kerri Clayton's single-season program record with 44 goals. Lia Willis was one of eight Sun Devils to score, with her two clutch second half goals providing a spark for the strong finish.
