TEMPE, ARIZ.-- On Tuesday morning, Arizona State freshman attacker, Luca Petovary, was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Newcomer of the Week as announced by the league office after her performance in the sweep over California Baptist University.
Petovary recorded three goals off of eight in back to back games against California Baptist University to put her at six on the day. Against the Lancers, Petovary also drew two exclusions and notched a steal, she currently leads the Sun Devils with 18 goals on the season. Her outstanding play has carried the Sun Devils (5-0) to rank fifth in the Collegiate Water Polo Association women's varsity rankings, and remain one of the unbeaten teams in the MPSF.
This honor comes a week after Petovary's stellar opening weekend against San Diego State in her first collegiate games where she tallied 12 goals, one drawn exclusion and one assist.
This is the first MPSF honor of the season for the Sun Devils, and the first of Petovary's career. Petovary and the Sun Devils look to remain undefeated this weekend, as they look forward to hosting a tournament with USC and Michigan coming to town.
Others nominated: Mallory Reynoso (Cal), and Kallie White (Indiana)
