COLLEGE STATION, Texas - A long week in Texas for Arizona State track and field came to an end Saturday with the conclusion of the NCAA Track and Field West Prelims hosted by Texas A&M. ASU punched 11 tickets to the National Championship meet in Eugene, Oregon, June 9-12 this week, with three of those coming on Saturday thanks to high marks in the men's 4x100, 110m hurdles, and women's discus. Jorinde van Klinken highlighted the day with a new facility record and collegiate PR that puts her further ahead in the national performance lists.

The men's 4x1 kicked off the day for ASU. Austin Kratz, Antonio Mitchell II, Jalen Drayden, and Jamar Marshall Jr. combined for a 39.67 that put them 11th overall and tied the squad's season best mark from May 1 in Tucson, Arizona. Marshall then competed in the 110H, where he already owns the program lead at 13.49 and qualified with a wind-aided 13.39 (2.8). The freshman from Stockton, Calif., ran 13.66 to take ninth and punch his ticket to Eugene.
World-leader Jorinde van Klinken then followed in the discus where she qualified with ease. The Dutch national's opening 56.50m heave would've been good enough for an eighth-place qualifying spot, but she one-upped it on the next throw by eight meters (64.44m/211-5), breaking the facility record and her own collegiate best to punch her second ticket to Eugene after qualifying in the shot put Thursday.
The Sun Devils now turn their eyes to the national meet where ASU took just four in 2019. The group was headlined by Sun Devil-turned-Wildcat Samantha Noennig who claimed the women's shot title. Beatrice Llano finished seventh in the hammer, and Seri Geisler took 16th in the javelin. William Paulson rounded out the trip with a fifth-place finish in the 1500m.
