The Sun Devil men's golf team shot an 8-under 276 in the second round to stay in the hunt for the 48th Thunderbird Collegiate at Papago Golf Club. The birdie barrage continued as the team collected a total of 44 in the two rounds Friday. The Sun Devils have won the past three and 20 of the 47 Thunderbird Collegiate Invitationals and are part of a seven-team race with all teams 11 shots or less behind leader TCU, who is at 30-under 538 after shooting a crazy 20-under 264 in the second round.

Chun An Yu shot the lowest score for the Sun Devils in round two with a 3-under par 68. David Puig and Cameron Sisk followed him by shooting 2-under 69. Puig remains in the top 10 and will look to make a strong push Sunday as he is three shots off the lead, one of 17 players within five shots of the lead. Puig is at 7-under 135, four shots back of leader Blake Tomlinson at Utah who is at 11-under 131 (65-66).
Ryggs Johnston and Mason Anderson both shot 1-under 70.
Three teams did not finish the final round so some holes will be played before tee times begin at 7 a.m. ASU players will tee at 7:46 (Andersen), 7:58 (Sisk and Johnson) and 8:10 (Yu and Puig).
FIRST ROUND RECAP
The Sun Devil men's golf team had a solid opening round at The 48th Thunderbird Collegiate on Friday at Papago Golf Course (par 70/7,319 yards). The Sun Devils shot 11-under par 273. Oklahoma State led the field after shooting 18 under, as the Cowboys have won the Thunderbird Collegiate four times with their last victory coming in 1988.
Jeewon Park, one of three Sun Devils playing as individuals, recorded an eagle on hole one.
