TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil Lacrosse picked up their fourth straight victory, defeating Oregon 18-6 at Sun Devil Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Coming off arguably the biggest weekend in program history, Arizona State (6-2, 3-1) took care of business from the start. Head Coach Tim McCormack's team captured the lead early in the first half and never looked back, leading the 59 of the 60 minutes.
The Sun Devils pick up a win in their first Pac-12 Conference game at Sun Devil Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium in 2021 and move to 4-0 at home, outscoring opponents by a total score of 82-36. The offense was sharp from the start, building a lead and the defense took care of the rest. Arizona State allowed only two goals over the final 30 minutes and held the Ducks scoreless for a 27-minute stretch of the second half.
"Our defense locked it down today," Coach McCormack remarked. "They played tough for 60 minutes. We were able to get a bunch of ground balls out of that end which kick started our transition. Overall It was a solid effort for that unit today!"
Emily Glagolev led the way with a record-setting day, finishing with eight points. Six of those points came in the form of assists, as she matched her own school-record for single-game helpers. Glagolev was setting up the dynamic Sun Devil playmakers, including Kaylon Buckner and Carley Adams, who each scored four goals. Arizona State caused a season-best 12 turnovers and forced Oregon into an inefficient clearing percentage and 26 total turnovers.
"The coaches and the team put a big emphasis on playing fast and free and I believe our offense clicked so well today because we were able to do that and just have fun," midfielder Kaylon Buckner remarked. "Every player that steps on the field is a threat and we all have complete confidence and trust in each other which is key."
TURNING POINT
With the stakes high in the first of seven Pac-12 conference games for the Sun Devils, the visiting Oregon side came ready to play. It was a 3-3 game midway through the first half, which is when Arizona State kicked it into high gear. Seven of the next eight and 15 of the next 16 goals came off the sticks of the Maroon & Gold, as they completely suffocated the Oregon attack. A combination of intense riding in the midfield and excellent effort and communication in the defensive zone allowed the Sun Devils to shut down the Ducks and create chances for the offense.

QUOTABLES
"Glag (Emily Glagolev) saw the field very well all game. She played our game and capitalized when her teammates got open," Coach McCormack observed.
"Tremendous effort by Buck today," Coach McCormack added. "She was great on the draw circle as well as both ends of the ball scoring a few and getting an assist while buckling down defensively."
"Our team plays with a chip on our shoulder and defense consistently showed this by playing hard and making big stops," Kaylon Buckner mentioned. "Also, I will give a lot of credit to our scout offense team who were able to prepare our defense this week coming into the game."
"Everyone knows each of us make an impact on the outcome of the game whether they step on the field or not, and it's so cool to see our scout teams take pride in preparing us," Buckner added.
