STANFORD, Calif. – In the first of two this weekend, Sun Devil Volleyball came up short at Stanford, falling in three sets (25-22, 25-16, 25-16) on Friday evening at Maples Pavilion.
Notable Stats
The Sun Devils had the lead for the first part of the set, leading as much as 13-8 after a kill from Roberta Rabelo. The Cardinal responded, however tying it up at 18-18 and taking the lead at 20-18. ASU got back on top with a 4-0 run, leading 22-20. The home team answered back with a 5-0 run to close out the set.
Set Two: Stanford 25, Arizona State 16
It was back and forth early in this set, trading leads and tying five different times. A 6-1 run for Stanford created some space from Arizona State, making it 17-11. Another 3-0 run made it 20-12 for the home team, forcing another timeout from the Sun Devils. ASU put a few more on the board, but could not come back.
Set Three: Stanford 25, Arizona State 16
The Sun Devils took the early lead in the final frame, going up 7-3 after a 5-1 run. However, the Cardinal responded with five-straight points to take the lead at 8-7. Claudia Stahlke got the kill after a long rally to tie it, but Stanford ran away with it from there. A 4-0 run for the Cardinal pushed it to 15-10 and they would not let up the lead, winning 25-16 again.

Notable Stats
- Arizona State (4-11) had its first loss since March 5. Stanford (2-5) won in straight sets, ASU's seventh match decided in three sets this season.
- Freshman pin hitter Marta Levinska hit .318 in the loss, earning a team-high nine kills. She also had an ace and four digs
- Sophomore Iman Isanovic was not far from that total, notching eight for herself. She had six digs as well.
- Sophomore Shannon Shields set for the majority of the match and collected 19 assists and seven digs. Her dig total is tied with sophomore Annika Larson for a team-high.
- The block was quite in the match with senior Megan Beedie leading the charge with three to go with her two kills.
