TEMPE - The No. 17 Sun Devils bounced back Sunday afternoon to win, 7-0, over UNLV at the Whiteman Tennis Center. The Maroon and Gold conceded just one set the entire afternoon. Senior Andrea Bolla extended his doubles streak to three matches with a 6-2 win alongside freshman Moritz Hoffmann.
Doubles
Bolla and Hoffmann quickly took care of business at No. 3, besting Milos Dabic/Jordan Sauer. Tim Ruehl/Makey Rakotomalala then won 6-4 at No. 2 over Anton Ornberg/Jackson Atherton to claim the opening point for the Sun Devils.
Singles
The Maroon and Gold then went on a tear in singles play. Nathan Ponwith was first off the courts with a decisive 6-2, 6-1 stomping at No. 1. Bolla then continued his hot streak with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3, followed by Rakotomalala winning 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 to clinch the day.
Jonah Wilson kept the streak going with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 5, and was followed by George Stoupe going the distance at No. 4 when he scraped out a 2-6, 6-3, 11-9 tiebreak win. Spencer Brachman cemented ASU's clean sheet at No. 6 when he went 6-4, 7-5.
