Sophomore David Puig, playing in just his fifth collegiate stroke play tournament, leads the field as does the Sun Devil men's team after the second round of the Southwestern Invitational held at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village.

Puig had five birdies and an eagle and just one bogey to shoot a 6-under 66. He has a three-stroke lead over Louisville's Matthias Schmid. Puig was one of three tied at the top of the leaderboard on the first day as only 11 players shot par in the 66-man field. He was at 5-under but bogeyed holes 16 and 18 in the first round and reached 6-under in the second round.

The Sun Devil men posted a 10-stroke improvement (292-282) and sits at 2-under 574, five shots ahead of Louisville (296-283=579) and eight shots ahead of SMU (293-288=581).
