TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil Hockey senior Steenn Pasichnuk signed a professional contract with the San Jose Barracuda on Saturday, joining his brother as the only two 2020 graduates to ink professional deals thus far.
"We're all excited to see Steenn play at the next level," said Powers. "He's one of our players that we've always felt projects to be a better pro because of how he wants to play using his physicality. He did a great job buying into his role here and doing what he needed to for our team to be successful…that will translate for him at the next level."
At 6-foot-4, 210-pounds, Steenn finished his collegiate career with six goals and 15 assists in 113 games played, which ranks fifth-most all-time in program history for games played. Steenn frequented the center position on the Sun Devils' fourth line, which was consistently used by coach Powers against some of the top lines in the country due to their hard and heavy style of play.
Steenn was also a key part of ASU's 10th-ranked penalty killing unit throughout the past two seasons. The unit killed 47 straight before the final game of the regular season, and resulted in killing 50 of their final 52 to end the season.
The Barracuda are the AHL affiliate to the San Jose Sharks, who signed Steenn's brother Brinson on March 30.Incredibly proud and excited to sign my first pro contract with the @sjbarracuda and the @SanJoseSharks organization! Can't wait to get to work pic.twitter.com/hF3Q8GFIXS
