Sun Devils Wrap up Weekend in Albuquerque

Sun Devils Wrap up Weekend in AlbuquerqueSun Devils Wrap up Weekend in Albuquerque
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Arizona State's track and field team completed its second of three scheduled trips to the ABQ Convention Center, and Cortney Jones and Bianca Tinoco both left New Mexico with wins.

Jones got faster as the meet progressed, dropping her times in the hurdles in each race, eventually ending the day with an 8.19 second dash in the final that gave her the meet win.

Jones has run the 60 hurdles eight times in 2020, and the six-time All-American has run faster than 8.3 seconds in seven of her outings.

In the women's 800, Bianca Tinoco's altitude adjusted 2:09.43 gave her the Devils' other win in Albuquerque. The Sun Devil junior already owns the fourth-fastest indoor 800 in school history, but the time today would have also placed her into the ASU top-10.

Just a week after claiming the No. 6 spot on the indoor top-10 list in the women's triple jump, freshman Christina Warren leaped three places to third in school history with her mark Saturday.

The freshman jumped 12.61m/41-4.50 feet and just inched out Sydnee Larkin's freshman mark from a season ago to place herself at third.

Tommi Hintnaus improved her place on the ASU all-time list when she soared 4.14m/13-7.0 feet in the women's pole vault. She was the sixth-highest collegiate finisher in the competition of high-flyers that included the four women who put themselves in the top-15 in the NCAA.

While the Devils return to New Mexico for the third-consecutive weekend, they'll split up to tackle the Don Kirby Elite and the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa, next week.
