Track and Field Returns to ABQ for Collegiate ClassicTrack and Field Returns to ABQ for Collegiate Classic
TEMPE – Arizona State heads back across the eastern border this weekend to compete in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the second time in as many weekends at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic Feb. 7-8.

The return trip to New Mexico's largest city will feature more of the same faces who put up top performances the Team Invitational last weekend, as well as a group of Distance Devils eager to make their season debuts on a 200-meter banked track.

After winning the 3,000-meter title at the McCravy Memorial, Jackson Lewis drops down to the mile this weekend, and McCravy mile champion Fearghal Curtin moves to the 800.

Bianca Tinoco is also back in the 800 this weekend after running a mile that was just two seconds off of landing her in the top-10 in school at the meet in Kentucky. Tinoco currently holds the No. 4 time in program history in the indoor women's 800 with her 2:07.63 from last season.

Coach Dion Miller's sprints group is hitting its stride and led by newcomer Cortney Jones in the women's hurdles.

In her first meet as a Sun Devil, Jones planted herself near the top of the ASU record book with the No. 2 time in ASU history in the hurdles at 8.15 seconds. She sits in the top-10 in the NCAA this year and will get another chance to move up in New Mexico.

Cole Riddle is also back in action at altitude where he cleared an indoor personal best 5.45m/17-10.50 feet and cracked the top-10 in the NCAA. The redshirt sophomore is just under a foot away Olympic gold medalist Nick Hysong's 26-year old school record.

The two-day New Mexico Collegiate Classic gets started Friday afternoon with a handful of field events slated to begin around 3 p.m. The track on day one will open up at 4 p.m. with 15 heats of the men's 200.

FloTrack will provide live coverage of the event, and liverunningresults.com will have results.
