TEMPE, Ariz. – Following a top-10 win and a season-high score, Arizona State gymnastics is headed to Corvallis, Oregon to compete against No. 9 LSU and No. 22 Oregon State in a tri-meet this Saturday.
Last Saturday against No. 10 Cal, ASU scored a 196.300 to pull off the upset. That was the highest team score of the season and the first top-10 win since 2014. Before that meet, the Gym Devils had only surpassed 49.000 in a rotation one time. In the win, they scored a 49.000-plus on vault, bars and floor.
Individually, many Sun Devils had career meets. Fifth-year senior Morgan Wilson competed in the all-around and on floor for the first time since 2016. She scored career highs in both with a 39.175 and 9.800, respectively. Additionally, freshman Gracie Reeves earned career bests in all three events she competed in: vault (9.825), bars (9.850) and beam (9.825). Finally, freshman Juliette Boyer earned a career-high 9.850 on vault to add to a career-high 39.275 in the all-around.
Wilson was awarded for her performance against the Bears, earning the Pac-12 Coaches' Choice of the Week nod as announced by the conference on Wednesday. This is the first coaches' choice honor for a Gym Devil, with the award being a new addition to the Pac-12 this season. It is the first weekly award for Wilson and the first for ASU since Justine Callis was named the Pac-12 Specialist of the Week last season on January 23.
The meet will begin at 12:30 p.m. MST and will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Plus Live Stream.
