TEMPE, Ariz. – No. 19 Arizona State beach volleyball will play its first Pac-12 matches this weekend, heading to No. 20 Stanford and No. 11 California on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, to play those teams in addition to No. 5 Hawai'i and Pacific.
The Sand Devils (2-0) opened up the season with wins over San Francisco and Boise State, winning 4-1 and 5-0, respectively. Head coach Brad Keenan earned his 50th win as a head coach against the Broncos.
With the success of the ASU program last season, seven Sand Devils are in the top 20 for individual career wins. Senior Katelyn Carballo is five wins away from tying former Sun Devil Bianca Arellano (2014-17) for second place. Following Carballo, senior Ellyson Lundberg is in fourth and juniors Kate Baldwin and Samantha Plaster are tied for fifth. Additionally, junior Cierra Flood is in ninth and sophomores Lauren Weintraub and Emily Anderson are in 17th and 18th, respectively.

- The Rainbow Warriors opened up the season by hosting the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic. They beat No. 20 Stanford twice, split with No. 2 LSU and fell to No. 1 UCLA.
- ASU and Hawai'i have played six times, most recently in 2019, with the Rainbow Warriors winning all six matchups.
- The Cardinal started the season with a difficult challenge. They played at the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic, taking on No. 1 UCLA, No. 3 LSU and No. 5 Hawai'i and going winless.
- In the all-time series between ASU and Stanford, it is tied 3-3. The Sun Devils won last season at the Pac-12 Championship, taking it 3-1 to knock out the Cardinal.
- The Bears are 1-1 to start 2020 after losing to then-No. 14 Grand Canyon and beating Saint Mary's.
- Cal leads 5-3 in the all-time series against Arizona State. The two teams played three times in 2019, with the Bears winning two of the three. However, the Sun Devils upset No. 10 Cal in the opening round of the Pac-12 Championship.
- The Tigers have played just one match so far, beating San Joaquin Delta College 5-0. In 2019, they went 1-15.
- This will be the first meeting between ASU and Pacific in beach volleyball.
