COLLEGE STATION, Texas. – Arizona State men's tennis hits the road refreshed after a weekend off, visiting No. 13 Texas A&M for a Sunday noon bout. The match is the third in the last three seasons between the Aggies and Sun Devils.
ASU (3-4) comes off a Feb. 9 win over Michigan State in which the Sun Devils earned their first sweeping win of the season over the Spartans. The Sun Devils quickly took the doubles point and all six courts were able to pull out victories in the 7-0 route.
Several Sun Devils have put up hot streaks leading into the weekend including Andrea Bolla. The Italian has won his last two singles matches, racking up a team-leading four singles wins.
He and doubles partner Tim Ruehl have also been hot as of late, putting up a major upset of then-No. 1 Robert Cash/John McNally from Ohio State. They are a solid 4-1 on the season and look to continue their dominance Sunday.
The 13th-ranked Texas A&M have rested since their run at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, a weekend in which they went 1-2. The Aggies dropped their opening match against then-No. 13 Michigan, a team in which the Sun Devils defeated last season 4-2 at the Oracle Collegiate Challenge.
A&M were able to hand UCLA a 4-1 loss, however, they dropped their final match against a foe familiar to the Sun Devils in TCU, 4-0.
