TEMPE, Ariz. -- On Senior Night, No. 10 Sun Devil Hockey set a new program record for wins in a season with their 22nd of the year, moving to seven-straight victories and 11 of their last 12 in a 5-2 win over Alaska Anchorage. It's the program's second-straight, 20-win season.

After recording his 100th career point on Friday night, senior defenseman Brinson Pasichnuk netted his first collegiate hat trick and four-point night in his final game at Oceanside Ice Arena.

"This team is special, they find ways to win and they won another game tonight," said head coach Greg Powers. "I told the team after the game that they eclipsed last year's win total and it's not easy to get 20 wins two years in a row in college hockey."

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Six minutes into the 1st period, Pasichnuk got his big night started with a big blast from the top of the slot that beat Carlson through traffic for the 1-0 lead.
  • With four minutes remaining in the first frame, junior forward Johnny Walker recorded his 16th assist of the season on a nice feed from the right circle for an easy tap in by fellow junior forward James Sanchez -- his 10th goal and 35th point of the season.
  • In the final two minutes of the 1st, as ASU appeared to be entering the first intermission with another 2-0 lead for the second-straight night, Anchorage netted their first goal of the series on a one-timer by Zach Nazzarett to cut the ASU lead in half.
  • Halfway thru the 2nd period, sophomore forward PJ Marrocco scored his third goal in the last four games on a feed from Pasichnuk to make it 3-1.
  • Anchorage brought it back to a goal as Nick Wicks accepted a lead pass all alone at the far blue line, and beat DeBrouwer with a quick shot to cut it 3-2.
  • With five seconds remaining in the middle period, Pasichnuk ripped his second blast from the top of the slot during the 4-on-3 powerplay. Sanchez assisted for a two-point night.
  • Nearly seven minutes into the 3rd, Pasichnuk finished the hat trick, bringing the puck up all alone on the power play before sniping one over Carlson to make it 5-2.
