TEMPE, Ariz. - Sun Devil Beach Volleyball and head coach Brad Keenan have signed two players to National Letters of Intent (NLI) who will join the 2022 roster.

"We are super excited to add Anya and Kaitlyn to the Sun Devil Beach Volleyball team," Keenan said. "They are both talented beach volleyball players, and we are looking forward to working with them to achieve their goals along with the goals of this program."

The Sand Devils will bring in Anya Pemberton and Kaitlyn Winkelman next season, both with well-rounded volleyball experience. They have played indoor and beach volleyball throughout their athletic careers, both leading their high school teams to championships. 

Anya Pemberton
Kelowna, BC, Canada | Kelowna Secondary School | 6-0
  • Won a BC D1 Provincial Championship in beach
  • Helped her team to back-to-back 4A provincial champions with her indoor team
  • Named the 2018 Provincial Tournament MVP and Provincial All-Star
  • Selected to the 2019 Team Canada 17U Youth National Team selection camp
  • Competed at the Canada Cup where she trained with elite athletes across the Province
  • Is a middle blocker for her indoor teams
  • Played indoor for Jr Heat Volleyball Club
  • Four-straight years on the Principal's List
  • Her mom is Tera and she has a brother named Noah
  • She hopes to play volleyball professionally one day

Kaitlyn Winkelman
Lone Tree, Colo. | Valor Christian HS | 5-10
  • Took first place at three beach tournaments in 2019
  • Made the USAV HP A1 team - U17
  • Helped her team to a state championship in 2018, as well as finishing as state runner-ups in 2019
  • Named to the USA Volleyball National All-Tournament Team in 2018
  • Played indoor for Colorado Juniors
  • For her indoor teams, she has experience playing as an outside hitter and defensive specialist
  • Named to the All-Academic First Team in 2019
  • National Honors Society member and is on the honor roll
  • Her parents are Ross and Melissa and she has two younger brothers, Zach and Brady
  • Plans to study pre-law to pursue a career as a prosecutor
