TEMPE, Ariz. -- Redshirt senior Zahid Valencia will take a break from dual action this Friday as he gets ready to compete at Matteo Pellicone (Jan. 18) in Rome, Italy while fellow freshman Cohlton Schultz will make a trip to Nykøbing Falster, Denmark to compete at the Thor Masters Invitational (Jan. 17-18).
The Matteo Pellicone is the first of two Ranking Series events for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games in July. Valencia will face a loaded field on Saturday, with a 2019 Junior Wrestler of the Year (Deepak Punia), 2020 Olympian (Myles Amine) and 2018 world silver medalist (Fatih Erdin).
A three-time Junior World Team member and 2017 Junior Worlds silver medalist, Valencia recently claimed the 86-kg first place trophy at the U.S. Senior Nationals back in December, earning him a spot at the U.S. Olympic Trials set for April 4-5 in State College, PA.

Schultz, a 2017 Cadet World Champion/two-time Junior World medalist, is a familiar face at the Thor Masters as he made his senior debut back in 2018. Similar to his Sun Devil teammate, Schultz is also fresh off of earning the top spot at the U.S. Senior Nationals in Greco-Roman (130-kg).
Schultz will be joined by Team USA teammate Jacob Mitchell, as they get set to make a run against some of the top Scandinavian heavyweights in the world.
