TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona State beach volleyball has announced its 2020 schedule, highlighted by a home tournament in April to host in-state opponents Arizona, Grand Canyon and Arizona Christian.
The Sand Devils will hold just one home tournament in 2020, taking place on April 10-11, but will play in the state of Arizona for half of the season. The Sun Devils and the Wildcats will matchup twice this season as part of the Territorial Cup Series, once home and once on the road. Each match will be worth a half point in the series.
Arizona State will kick off the season by holding the Maroon and Gold Scrimmage on February 14 at the PERA Club. To begin the regular season, ASU will play Boise State and San Francisco in Tucson, Arizona on February 22. From there, the Sun Devils will travel to California for its next four matches, beginning with Stanford on February 20 before taking on Cal on March 1. The California trip will end with a Pac-12 South tournament hosted by 2019 NCAA National Champion UCLA from March 7-8.
ASU will then head east to play at a tournament hosted by South Carolina on March 14-15. The last trip out of Arizona for the Sun Devils is at Texas A&M Corpus Christi to play the host team and Houston Baptist on March 27-28.
Back in Arizona, the Sand Devils will play Long Beach State on April 1 on Grand Canyon's campus. On April 4-5, ASU and GCU will matchup in Phoenix for the second season in a row, as well as other teams competing in the tournament.
Finally, Arizona State will host three teams on April 10-11: Grand Canyon, Arizona Christian and rival Arizona. The last match of the regular season will be against the Wildcats in Tucson on April 16. The 2020 Pac-12 Tournament will take place in Los Angeles from April 23-25.
