RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – The Sun Devil Women's Golf has a heavy presence at the ANA Inspiration, with five current or former members of the program competing at the LPGA major.
All five Sun Devils made the cut after two rounds, including amateur Olivia Mehaffey. In just her fifth professional event, Mehaffey makes the cut for the first time, doing it at a LPGA major. She will be moving on to compete in the third round alongside four fellow Sun Devils, with a live national broadcast provided by Golf Channel starting Saturday at 11 am (PST).
Sun Devil Women's Golf senior Olivia Mehaffey put together a clutch second round, shooting 71 (-1) to move 24 spots up the leaderboard. She is one of only five amateurs to make the cut, thanks to her two-under effort over her final 15 holes. The up-and-coming collegiate star showed poise despite difficult elements, improving her round by six strokes from yesterday. Mehaffey is the final Sun Devil to tee-off tomorrow, looking to make some more noise at 9:28 am (PST).
Carlota Ciganda's (2009-11) consistent performance through two rounds has allowed her to remain in the Top-20, sitting in a tie for 17th midway through the tournament. She leads all Sun Devils with a 140 (-4), sitting one stroke outside of a crowded Top-10. Ciganda attempts to make a further move up the leaderboard, starting her round at 8:44 am (PST).
The first Sun Devil to tee-of tomorrow is Anna Nordqvist (2007-09), who is in contention after the first two rounds. She has carded a 141 (-3) to this point, earning her a tie for 22nd. Both of Nordqvist's round have been under par, as she prepares to catapult her way up packed leaderboard beginning at 8:22 am.
Competing shot-for-shot with Anna Nordqvist is fellow Swede and Sun Devil Linnea Strom (2016-17), who has improved over her two days of golf. She is tied with Nordqvist for 22nd place, shooting a 141 (-3) through 36 holes. A second round on the course proved to be a benefit for Strom, as she moved up 27 spots on the leaderboard thanks to a 69 (-3). She will try and continue her ascent with an 8:33 am tee-time tomorrow morning.
Another weekend, another cut made by Azahara Munoz (2006-09) at a LPGA event. She improved her score by three strokes from the first to second round, allowing her to move up 11 spots into a tie for 66. Two more rounds offer plenty of opportunities for Munoz to move her way through the field, with her first chance coming tomorrow at 9:17 am.

Under the direction of three-time National Champion Missy Farr-Kaye and newly-promoted Associate Head Coach Michelle Estill, the team will receive the proper coaching and guidance that it takes to succeed at the highest level.
