TEMPE, Ariz. – Riding streaks of three-straight wins and four scores of 196.000-plus in a row, No. 21 Arizona State gymnastics is heading south to take on No. 6 LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Friday.
The Gym Devils (7-6-1) are on an amazing streak. They have not lost a meet since February 15 and have not scored below a 196.500 since that date as well. In the week nine rankings on Road to Nationals, ASU was ranked No. 35. On Monday, Arizona State was ranked No. 21 in the week 10 rankings, jumping up 14 spots after two big road scores and a big home score.
This will be the last regular season meet for the Gym Devils, wrapping up one of the 10 toughest schedules in the nation, according to Road to Nationals. No. 6 LSU is the seventh top-10 matchup for Arizona State, including the tri-meet with the Tigers earlier this season at Oregon State. ASU has competed against 12 top-25 teams in 2020, beating four of them and tying with then-No. 13 Washington.
With all of the high scores last week, individuals stepped up for the Sun Devils. Freshman Gracie Reeves scored a 9.925 on vault against Pitt, the highest vault score by a Sun Devil since 2009. She also won two vault titles in the three meets last week. Freshman Juliette Boyer, the reigning Pac-12 Freshman of the Week, also had a strong meet, earning career highs in every event except vault. She won two bars titles, a floor title and an all-around title. Junior Cairo Leonard-Baker scored three 9.900s or better last week, two on bars and one on floor. Finally, fifth-year senior Morgan Wilson finished her final home meet with a bang, earning career highs on bars and in the all-around, tying for first in the all-around with Boyer.
The meet will begin at 5:15 p.m. MST and will be streamed live on the SEC Network+.
