@SunDevilWP Opens Conference Play in California@SunDevilWP Opens Conference Play in California

The No. 6 Sun Devil women's water polo team heads back to California this weekend to begin conference play. ASU will open the weekend with a matchup against No. 13 San Jose State at 1 p.m. MST/noon PST on Saturday. The Sun Devils will head to Palo Alto on Sunday to face off against No. 2 (T) Stanford at 1 p.m. MST/PST. 

ASU returns to action this weekend after a bye week. In the team's last outing, they took sixth place at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational and picked up two wins, including a win over San Jose State, to improve to 11-4 on the season. 
 

SCOUTING SAN JOSE STATE

The No. 13 Spartans are coming off a loss to No. 1 USC and sit at 5-11 on the season and 0-2 in MPSF play. ASU defeated SJSU, 8-6, in the first match of the Barbara Kalbus Invitational. ASU and SJSU split their two contests last season, as the Spartans took a 9-7 win in the first matchup and the Sun Devils came away with an 18-12 win at the MPSF Tournament to close the season. 
 

SCOUTING STANFORD 

Stanford comes into this weekend with a 14-1 record and is tied for second in the CWPA rankings. Stanford's first loss of the season came against MPSF opponent USC in the championship match of the Barbara Kalbus Invitational. ASU fell to the Cardinal, 10-7, in the only meeting between the two teams last season.
