PHOENIX – The No. 8 Arizona State baseball team dropped the final game of its weekend series against Nebraska after a high scoring 18-10 loss Sunday at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
Despite a prolific day at the dish, tt was a tough day on the mound for the Sun Devils as Nebraska scored 18 runs off 17 hits.
Spencer Torkelson recorded his 53rd career home run on a monstrous 435-footer to opposite field. He moved within three home runs of Bob Horner's ASU career record of 56. He finished the day a triple shy of the cycle, going 3-for-5 with four RBIs.
Drew Swift saw his first career start in the cleanup role and responded with his first career home run in the process to cap off an incredible weekend for the junior. Swift went 2-for-5 on the day with two RBIs.
Trevor Hauver added his fourth homer of the year and second of the weekend in the first inning and finished 2-for-5.
Despite the long balls and big hits, ASU was undone by a 6-run 3rd inning and 7-run 5th inning by the Huskers, who salvaged the final game of the series after being outscored 27-6 in the first two games.

After Torkelson's three-run shot to even the score at 8-8 after four innings, Nebraska homered three times in the fifth and scored 7 runs to effectively put the game away.

The following batter Luke Roskam was hit a by a pitch, bringing in another run. The next batter Leighton Banjoff hit a grand slam over the left-field wall for the Husker's first lead of the game 6-5. The Sun Devils went down in order at the plate.

Acker was walked. ASU would then put pitcher Bryce Barnett on the mound. Jaxon Hallmark hit a sacrifice single bringing Acker to second. Cam Chick was walked. With runners on first and second base, Shwellenbac hit an RBI single to extend the Husker lead to 7-5. Huskers would tack on another run when Palensky hit a sacrifice flyball bringing Chick in from third to make it 8-5. Barnett would strike out the next batter to end the inning. Garcia hit a single to leftf ield. Williams hit a single that would advance Garcia to second. Spencer Torkelson then tied the game with a three-run homer into the right-field to make it 8-8.
