CHICAGO – The Sun Devil women's tennis team dropped its second match of the season to Princeton Saturday at the ITA Indoor Championships in Chicago.
"It was definitely a struggle for us today in both doubles and singles," coach Sheila McInerney said. "Give a lot of credit to Princeton. They really made it tough for us and didn't give up any easy points."
Princeton came out strong in doubles and took wins on courts one and three to jump ahead to a 1-0 lead that the Tigers wouldn't give up for the remainder of the match. The Tigers went on to defeat the Devils 4-0.
Once again, Tereza Kolarova was one of the lone bright spots for ASU in Chicago. She was leading in her court three match 6-4, 4-3 before Princeton clinched and play was suspended.
"We didn't play well enough today to win," McInerney said. "We've got to come out better tomorrow when we take on Virginia."
The Sun Devils will get back on the courts Sunday for their final match of the weekend against the Virginia Cavaliers. The Hoos dropped their second match of the weekend against Pepperdine.
