MADISON, Wisc. – The regular season did not end as hoped for the No. 9 Sun Devils, as ASU (22-11-3) spent over 20 minutes of Saturday night's game shorthanded on the road in a 6-2 loss to Wisconsin.
On their senior night, the Badgers' (13-18-1) and their 12 NHL draft picks capitalized on their chances early and often and it was an uphill climb the Sun Devils couldn't get out of, which included half of the second period shorthanded.
"Tonight is tough because I don't feel like we ever game ourselves a chance. Couple turnovers by people that can't make them, couple bad goals down below the goal line. We found ourselves down early and just couldn't climb out of it," said head coach Greg Powers. "It was one of those nights. Last night was our night – I felt like we could have won that game and maybe should have in some regards – but tonight they were the better team and were better in every facet of the game."
