Chun An Yu is in the top five entering final day action Tuesday at the Southwestern Invitational.

The Sun Devil men's golf team opened the spring season Monday at the Southwestern Invitational and is in third as darkness halted the second round at North Ranch Country Club (par-72/6,992 yards) in West Lakes Village, Calif.

The teams will finish the second round Tuesday and then play the final 18, as ASU did finish its second round and is at 8-over 584 (293-281). Pepperdine (-3) and USC (+4) have holes to play in the second round and are leading the event.

Freshman Ryggs Johnston had an eagle on the par-5 474 yard 15th hole in the first round.

TOURNAMENT HISTORY: The Southwestern Intercollegiate was started by USC in 1978. Pepperdine and USC co-hosted the event in 2013 and 2014. After a year without a tournament, Pepperdine then took over hosting duties in 2016 and merged it with its own home tournament, which had been played at a few different sites.

ASU HISTORY IN THE SOUTHWESTERN INVITATIONAL: ASU won the Southwestern Invitational in 2001, 2000, 1998, 1996, 1993, 1986, 1983 and 1980. Sun Devils to win the individual title were Paul Casey (1998), Todd Demsey (1994), Billy Mayfair (1987) and Dan Forsman (1980) and David Lee (1979).
