LIMA, Peru – Sun Devil triathlete Hannah Henry won silver as a part of the Canadian mixed relay team at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru this past Monday. With the win, the team made history as the first Canadians to ever podium in that event at a Pan American Games.

Henry joined teammates Desirae Ridenour, Charles Paquet and Alexis Lepage as the foursome to podium for Team Canada. The event features teams of two men and two women that each compete a short course triathlon (300m swim, 8km bike, 2 km run) before tagging off to a teammate.

In Lima, Team Canada finished with a time of 1:20.51, a mere 17 seconds behind first place. In a highly competitive race toward the end, the top three spots all finished within 25 seconds of each other. Henry raced the third leg of the relay, finishing with an individual time of 22:07, the third-fastest of the 10 team pool.

The medal is the first for Henry on the senior international scale, as her notable international results include two top-12 finishes as an individual and two top-7 finishes in mixed relays at the ITU Grant Final (junior) in 2018 and 2016.

On the collegiate scale, Henry looks to successfully defend her national title at this year's USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championship by winning her third-straight. The rising junior won a title in each of her first two years in collegiate triathlon.
