HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. – Two Arizona State beach volleyball pairs are competing at the USA Volleyball Collegiate Beach Championships at Hermosa Beach from May 9-11, both in the main draw.
The Sun Devils' top pair of Oluoma Okaro and Ashley Wenz will be competing this week at the championships as well as juniors Katelyn Carballo and Ellyson Lundberg.
Wrapping up their careers in style, Okaro and Wenz had a historic start to their partnership. They started with a perfect 12-0 record, winning the first Pac-12 Pair of the Week nod in Sun Devil history. Both earned All-Pac-12 honors as well, with Okaro making the first team and Wenz making the second team. They finished the year with a 20-4 record and with five wins over pairs on top-20 teams.
Carballo and Lundberg had an 8-9 record in 2019. In 2018, they led the team with a 19-9 record. As a pair, they are No. 3 in career wins with 36. They both moved up the all-time individual wins list throughout the season. Carballo is currently No. 3 all-time with 50 wins and Lundberg is in fourth with 50 wins.
