SAN FRANCISCO – Arizona State's dynamic doubles duo of sophomore Lauryn John-Baptiste and junior Ilze Hattingh has been recognized as the Pac-12 Doubles Team of the Year for its dominant 2019 campaign on the hardcourt, the conference announced Tuesday.

The Sun Devil tandem came into the season as one of the premiere partnerships in the nation, coming off of a run to the Elite Eight at the NCAA Doubles Championships in 2018. Even with targets on their backs, the two All-Americans kept up their tremendous play from their first season as teammates to put together a follow-up effort for the history books.

John-Baptiste/Hattingh would go on to finish the 2019 regular season with a 14-2 record and 10 of those wins coming against women ranked in the top-70.

For their dominance in 2019, the Devils' court one tandem spent two weeks as the No. 1 team in the nation on the Oracle/ITA Doubles Rankings, becoming the first ASU tandem in school history to hold the top-spot in the poll.

From week one until the most recent poll, the two never dropped outside of the top-10 and had two unbeaten stretches of 11 matches and six matches to help the Devils win the doubles point in 17 of their 21 regular season dual-matches.

While the two Sun Devils picked up the biggest doubles honor from the conference Tuesday, they also received all-conference honors for their individual play.

Hattingh earned a second-team All-Pac-12 honor for season as ASU's court one player, and John-Baptiste received an honorable mention nod on court two.

The Pac-12 Doubles Team of the Year earned the No. 3 seed in the NCAA Doubles Championships, slated to get going down in Orlando, Florida, later this month.
