BATON ROUGE, La. – Cairo Leonard-Baker will represent Arizona State gymnastics at NCAA Nationals in Fort Worth, Texas on April 19 after winning the regional bar title on Friday with her score of 9.925.
Leonard-Baker earned her second-straight individual trip to nationals after making it as an all-around in 2018. The sophomore had the best score on the uneven bars between both sessions of the second round at the Baton Rouge Regional on Friday, which clinched the nationals bid. The scores from Friday's competition were what determined the individual qualifiers.
Nationals will be held in Fort Worth, Texas from April 19-20. The individual participants will compete on Friday, April 19 in one of the two sessions of the semifinals. The individual event championships will be awarded to the individuals with the highest cumulative score during semifinal competition. Both sessions will be televised on either ESPN2 or ESPNU.
The Gym Devils have been led by Leonard-Baker all season. She won six bars titles, five floor titles and three all-around titles during the regular season. She was named a WCGA Regular Season All-American on bars as well as earning All-Pac-12 First Team honors on bars and in the all-around.
