ASU squared off for the second time this season against the Spartans after SJSU delivered a midseason victory back at the ASU Invitational #2. The Sun Devils would fine tune some things in preparation for Sunday's rematch that enabled them to flip the script from the first meeting.

MPSF Newcomer selection Lieke Rogge had a career performance in the final day at the MPSF Championships. Rogge capitalized on a team-high, single-game performance of six goals on the afternoon to finish her freshman campaign with 37 goals in total, placing her tied for seventh all-time in single-season scoring history by a freshman.

After the Spartans grabbed an early 1-0 lead, ASU would counter right back, applying six goals in the period highlighted by freshman Borbala Kekesi, who found the back of the net twice, helping ASU take a 6-3 advantage after period one.

Senior Maud Koopman continued to take charge on the offensive end, as she has done all weekend long, scoring her sixth hat trick of the season and eighth goal of the 2019 MPSF Championship tournament.

The Spartan defense would settle down in the second, as the Devils would salvage one goal from freshman Blaire McDowell to add to their lead and head into the half leading 7-6.

The Rogge Sisters would take over the third period of action, as Bente Rogge would posted her first of three goals on the afternoon. Lieke Rogge would do the rest, finding the back of the net on four separate occasions to put the Sun Devils up 12-9, going into the final frame.

Six goals would be supplied to the Sun Devil lead in the fourth period, as Kekesi would finish her afternoon with the first hat trick of her young career. Sophomore Amira Van Buren would also be a staple of the Sun Devil offense, finding the back of the net for her second score of the day, as ASU closed out the Spartans for their 14th victory of the season.

The Sun Devils will head back to Tempe to await their postseason fate, which will be determined on Monday, April 29th at 5 p.m. PT on the NCAA Women's Water Polo Selection Show.
