LOS ANGELES – The No. 10 Sun Devil Water Polo team dropped its conference matchup against No. 2 USC 17-3 on Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles.
ASU's leading scorers Maud Koopman and Bente Rogge supplied one goal each, giving Koopman her team-leading 47thgoal of the season, while Rogge added her 40th. Koopman and Rogge are now the first pair of teammates to score 40 or more goals in the MPSF this season.
The Trojans jumped out to a fast start, grabbing a 2-0 lead in the first three minutes of play.
Rogge stopped the run for USC, as she took advantage of the 5-meter penalty shot to get the Devils on the board. The ASU attack struggled to gain any momentum for the remainder of the first half and the Devils trailed the Trojans 8-1 break.
The Sun Devils would score a goal in each of the final two frames to end things. Sophomore Amira Van Buren supplied the final goal for ASU, coming off a nice feed from teammate Lieke Rogge.
Bridget Johnston got the start behind the net for the Devils and finished the contest with six saves to go along with two steals.
ASU will return to California next Saturday when it takes on the California Golden Bears in the final regular-season matchup at 2 p.m. MST. Follow the action live on Pac-12 Networks.
