TEMPE, Ariz. – Coming off a record-setting weekend in which they earned a split of their first road trip of the season, the Sun Devil Lacrosse team returns to Tempe, playing host to Stanford and California.

A unique part of the 2019 Pac-12 schedule has ASU playing Saturday and Monday.  On Saturday, Arizona State squares off with their third Top-25 opponent as the No. 19 Stanford Cardinal come to Sun Devil Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium for a 12 p.m. tilt. The Monday contest against California is scheduled for 4 p.m and will be aired live on Pac-12 Network Arizona. As is true for all Sun Devil Lacrosse home games, admission is free.

An 18-10 road victory over Oregon last Friday represented one of the biggest wins in the program's young history. The 18 goals scored are the most the team has scored this season, and represents the highest goal output against a Pac-12 opponent in school history. The Sun Devils spent part of the first half and a majority of the second half up 10+ goals, the first time the program has earned a running clock against a conference opponent. It is the second win over a Pac-12 opponent, the first to come in regulation (3/25/18 W, 12-11 vs. Cal in OT).

It was a dominant team performance, but a few individuals enjoyed memorable performances. Julia Burns set a new school record, dishing out six assists (previous record holder - Graci Fulkerson, 5 assists vs. Manhattan 2/24/18). The six assists were the most by anyone in the Pac-12 Conference this season. As a team, Arizona State finished with 14 assists, the highest for a Pac-12 team so far in 2019.

Burns wasn't the only Sun Devil to break a single game school record, as an eight-point performance by Emily Glagolev set a new program high. She affected the game in many ways, putting pressure on the defense as a scoring threat with five goals, while also serving as a facilitator finishing with three assists. For the first time in program history, two players scored 4+ goals in the same game (Glagolev 5, Clayton 4). Three Sun Devils recorded hat tricks for just the second time ever (W, 23-5 vs. Presbyterian on 3/3/18).

"Julia and Emily performed remarkably on Friday," Coach Martinez Connor stated. "As a coaching staff, it is not surprising because we see them play that way in practice all the time. It was nice that it translated to the game."

In keeping with the theme of the weekend, goalkeeper Berkeley Bonneau decided it was her turn to set a record on Sunday when ASU matched up with No. 23 Colorado in Boulder. She was tested early and often, but responded with one of the best games of her career. Blowing past her previous career-best of 17 saves, Bonneau made 20 saves in the Sun Devils loss to Colorado. Bonneau was a big reason why the Buffaloes struggled on free-position attempts, going 3-for-11 from eight meters.

"Although we would prefer Berkeley not face that many shots, she handled it incredibly well," Coach Martinez Connor mentioned. "She continues to play at a high level and improves our chances to win."

Bonneau has played all 420 minutes in net for the Sun Devils, leading the Pac-12 Conference with a .510 save percentage and sitting second averaging 11.43 saves/game. As a team, Arizona State ranks second in the conference in assists/game (5.57) and ground balls/game (23.29). Both Julia Burns (2nd – 1.67) and Emily Glagolev (4th – 1.43) rank in the Top-5 in the conference in assists/game. Freshman midfielder Kaylon Buckner is third in the Pac-12, causing 1.57 turnovers/game.

First up, No. 19 Stanford will be the opponent on Saturday at 12 p.m. We will be honoring our current and former members of the U.S. military throughout the duration of the afternoon as part of our Salute to Service game. The reigning Pac-12 Tournament Champion Cardinal are coached by Amy Bokker, who is in the midst of her 11th season at the helm of the Stanford Lacrosse program. The Cardinal are 6-2 so far this season, picking up an impressive non-conference win early in the season over No. 17 Stony Brook. They sit at 2-1 in the Pac-12 Conference, recently defeating Oregon and California. Attacker Ali Baiocco leads the way offensively, compiling 36 points (24 goals & 12 assists) in a productive sophomore season. Goalkeeper Trudie Grattan has started all eight games in net, making 72 saves while allowing 11.12 goals/game. The game will be broadcasted live via the ASU Digital Stream. The 942 Crew will be giving away ASU-themed umbrellas before Saturday's game.

"Stanford is an extremely talented and well-coached team," Coach Martinez Connor remarked. "We are going to have to be on the top of our game for all 60 minutes to compete with a Top-25 team."

Arizona State will appear on the Pac-12 Network for the second time this season when they take on California on Monday at 4 p.m. The afternoon matchup will serve as our Pink Game, as Sun Devil Lacrosse shows it's support for Breast Cancer awareness and research efforts.  A season ago, ASU made history against this same California side. Emily Glagolev scored an overtime goal as the program earned its first-ever victory over a Pac-12 opponent in Berkeley last season. The Golden Bears (4-6) are led by Head Coach Brooke Eubanks, who is in her fifth season in charge of the Cal Lacrosse program. A four-game winning streak was snapped on March 10 after a loss to Colorado. The Golden Bears are powered offensively by the duo of Kirsten Swanson and Eliza Christman, who have both reached the 20-goal plateau through ten games. Goalkeeper Jenny Wilkens has started all ten games in net for California. Before heading to Tempe, the Golden Bears stop in Los Angeles for a showdown with USC. Monday afternoon's contest will be available on Pac-12 Network Arizona and across all of the Pac-12 Digital platforms, with more information found here.

"Cal came close to knocking off Stanford and improvement from last season is evident," Coach Martinez Connor observed.
