TEMPE/INDIAN WELLS – Sun Devil men's tennis makes a quick trip home for a midweek matchup with Liberty and then heads to California to participate in the collegiate leg of the prestigious BNP Paribas Open this week. The home match is just the third through two months of the season and the Sun Devils' only match in Tempe during March.

The action between the Sun Devils and the Flames is set for a 5 p.m. MST first serve at the Whiteman Tennis Center, the first of two home matches under the lights this season for ASU. The event is free to the public, and fans who attend are also entered to win a tennis racket.

Liberty currently sits at 5-8 on the season and has already faced off a Pac-12 opponent so far in Washington. The Flames dropped the matchup, 4-3, after securing the doubles point early. Washington battled back to take three-straight singles matches to pull out to a 3-1 lead, and Liberty responded by tying it up at three. The Huskies took a win on court four to clinch the back-and-forth affair.

The Sun Devils leave for Indian Wells, Calif. the next day to take part in the Oracle Collegiate Challenge. The Challenge runs from Fri., March 15 to Sun., March 17, and ASU is familiar with the tournament as the squad made it to the championship match last season as well.

ASU opened the tournament with a 4-2 win over Southern Methodist and then followed the next day with a quick 4-1 win over Tulsa. The Sun Devils faced off against No. 39 Cal in the championship match on Sunday, dropping the match 4-3.

Brackets and opponents for the Challenge will be released soon.

The professional leg of the tournament began on March 4 and will conclude on March 17. It includes the best of the best in professional tennis including No. 2 Rafael Nadal, No. 4 Roger Federer and No. 8 John Isner on the men's side as well as No. 1 Naomi Osaka, No. 2 Simona Halep and No. 10 Serena Williams on the women's side.
