TEMPE, Ariz. – With a top-20 win taken care of, Arizona State beach volleyball is heading down to Tucson this weekend for the Pac-12 South Tournament where the team will take on No. 1 UCLA, No. 11 California and Washington.
 
In the first weekend of competition, Arizona State (2-1) picked up two wins, one of which was against No. 16 Grand Canyon. Katie Cross and Ellyson Lundberg clinched the win over the Lopes in three sets, along with another three-set win against New Mexico.
 
Opponents Outlook
No. 1 UCLA (5-0) | Saturday, March 2, 9 a.m. MST
  • So far this season, they are off to the best start in program history. Of their five wins, four were against ranked opponents, including two top-five teams.
  • The Bruins are the reigning national champions, beating Florida State 3-1 to win the title. They went 40-4 in 2018. 
No. 11 California (2-0) | Saturday, March 2, 4:30 p.m. MST
  • The Bears are undefeated with just two matches under their belts so far, beating Santa Clara and San Francisco at home.
  • Last year, Cal went 24-8 with the season ending in the Pac-12 Championship. 
Washington (0-0) | Sunday, March 3, 12:45 p.m. MST
  • The Huskies have yet to play a match in 2019. This weekend will be their first challenge.
  • ASU is 1-2 against UW all time, picking up the first win last season.
Saturday will feature matchups against the Bruins and Golden Bears. All matches will be streamed on the Pac-12 Network.
