TEMPE, Ariz. – This weekend, No. 8 Sun Devil Water Polo hits the road once again to No. 7 UC Irvine's Barbara Kalbus Invitational Feb. 22-24.
The entire 16-team field in the top-25, the teams are broken into four groups including No. 1 USC, No. 8 Arizona State, No. 9 UCSB, and No. 25 San Diego State in Group A; No. 21 CSU Northridge, No. 10 Pacific, No. 7 UC Irvine, and No. 2 Stanford in Group B; No. 3 UCLA, No. 6 Michigan, No. 12(tied) LMU, and No. 17(tied) Long Beach State in Group C; and No. 4 Cal, No. 5 Hawaii, No. 12(tied) San Jose State, and No. 17(tied) UCSD in Group D.
The Sun Devils' first match of the weekend will be Friday, Feb. 22 at 5:15 pm MT/4:15 pm PT vs. No. 9 UC Santa Barbara at nearby Corona del Mar High School. This will be the Devils and Gauchos' third meeting this season – UCSB taking the first, 11-10, on Feb. 3 and ASU taking the second, 7-5, on Feb. 10.
The winner of that match will face the winner of No. 1 USC vs No. 25 San Diego State at UC Irvine while the loser will face the loser of that same matchup at Corona del Mar HS. Both matches are set for 9 am MT/8 am PT.
Games throughout the weekend at UC Irvine's pool will have live scoring.

The UC Irvine Invitational was renamed in 2017 to honor water polo icon Dr. Barbara Kalbus, a 1993 inductee into the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame. Kalbus held several leadership positions within USA Water Polo including as President from 1980-84.
In 2010, USA Water Polo established the Barbara Kalbus Distinguished Volunteer Award in her honor to recognize those who have gone above and beyond in volunteer service to the sport.
