NEW ORLEANS – The No. 14 Sun Devils moved up one spot on the leaderboard on the final day at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship hosted by Tulane.
All-American Olivia Mehaffey moved up three spots on day three, just outside the top-10 in a tie for 11th place (220/+4).
"Olivia played hard this week and grinded out close to a top-10 finish," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "I'm frustrated that the rest of our team did not handle the difficult weather conditions very well this week. We have a lot to work on but most importantly we need to get tougher mentally. We have a few days at home to get some good practice in before we leave again on Saturday for the Bruin Wave."
As a team, the Sun Devils finished just three strokes out of the top-10 and 11 strokes out of the top eight. ASU finished ahead of fellow Pac-12 foe No. 18 Washington.
Madison Kerley was the next highest finisher for ASU while Alexandra Försterling, Sofia Anokhina, and Alessandra Fanali rounded out the Devils' five competitors. Fanali cut six strokes off her scores between rounds two and three.
No. 3 Texas, No. 5 Duke, and No. 1 USC finished 1-2-3 in team scoring while Houston's Lonie Harm and Florida's Addison Baggarly tied for the individual win.
ASU has a quick turnaround before their next competition, heading to San Luis Obispo, Calif. for the two-day Bruin Wave early next week (Feb. 25-26).
