Jessica Ginn – High Achieving Female

November's highest achieving female student-athlete is Sun Devil gymnast Jessica Ginn.

One of the Valley's own, Ginn is a Kinesiology major with a 4.0 GPA in the Barrett Honors College. She hopes to put her degree to work immediately by heading to medical school after graduation.

She's been a WCGA Scholastic All-American three times and a staple for Jay Santos' gymnastics team, scoring a 9.800 or better on floor and vault in seven meets in 2019, and being a two-time member on the Pac-12 All-Academic squad.

Samantha Alicea – Most Improved Female

In her second year on the ASU women's tennis team, Florida native Samantha Alicea is November's most improved female student-athlete.

As she pursues her degree in biological sciences, she would be the first to admit that she took college too lightly her first semester. She quickly righted her ship and now in her third semester has put herself in position to achieve her best grades yet.

She has been extremely assertive in her courses and has become extremely proactive. With the start of tennis season around the corner, she admits she is anxious for the spring semester, but she also says she believes she can continue with the academic momentum she has created.

Ethan Long – High Achieving Male

All-around athlete Ethan Long has contributed in many phases of the game in his first season with the Arizona State football team.

He is pursing his degree in Integrative Health, where he hopes to pursue nursing school once his aspirations in the NFL conclude.

Long graduated high school early to start his college career Spring of 2019, and since stepping on campus, he's put in as much work in the classroom as he does on the field where he is a true freshman team captain.

Makey Rakotomalala – Most Improved Male

Makey Rakotomalala is a senior from France on the men's tennis team. He has exponentially increased his effort in the classroom in the past year.

A Liberal Studies major, Rakotomalala had to adjust the American schooling system at a rigorous pace after arriving from France.

This past semester, he had the goal of becoming a Scholar Baller, and even with his long travel schedule, Rakotomalala was able to balance tennis and academics. He is on track to not only have a great GPA, but also achieving Scholar Baller status.
