TEMPE, Ariz. -- After a 20 day lull, junior forward James Sanchez sparked the Sun Devils (7-4-0) to a 2-1 victory with two power play goals Friday night at Oceanside Ice Arena. With the two goals, Sanchez extended his point streak to seven games with three goals and nine assists in that stretch.
Between the pipes, ASU sophomore Evan DeBrouwer continued his hot streak with a 29-save performance for his sixth win in the last seven games, outdoing the 2018-19 Mike Richter semifinalist from Vermont (1-9-1).
"After being off for 20 days, to come out and control the pace of the game for most of the game, we didn't give up too much," said head coach Greg Powers. "A lot of chances we didn't convert on but the special teams won us the game and you can win games like that. Good teams have to win games like that."

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Six minutes into the second period, Sanchez fired a one-timer from the right dot bar down on the power play to give the Sun Devils a 1-0 lead.
- Sanchez wasn't done scoring as he went to work on the powerplay once again, walking down the slot and going stickside on Catamount netminder Stefanos Lekkas to extend the lead to 2-0.
- Early in the third period, the Catamounts chopped the lead in half on a rebound that deflected the opposite direction of DeBrouwer. Head coach Greg Powers challenged the goal for goaltender interference as it appeared DeBrouwer was prevented from making a play on the puck, but after further review, the goal stood.
- On their way to victory, the Sun Devils killed off two penalties, late in the third period to preserve the win.
