TEMPE, Ariz.-- Coming off the team's 15th-consecutive NCAA Postseason appearance a year ago, the Arizona State softball team has announced an exciting slate of games in the fast-approaching 2020 season. The spring slate features 54 games, with 35 contests set to be played at Farrington Stadium.
The season will kick off with the nationally-acclaimed Kajikawa Classic set for the week of February 7-10. The Sun Devils will open the season with a Friday doubleheader, taking on Portland State and Kansas before hosting Western Michigan and Northwestern on Saturday. The Sun Devils will take on Seattle on Sunday, before closing out their opening weekend on Monday, when ASU host 2019 NCAA Super Regionals participant Tennessee.
ASU will remain at home the following weekend when the team hosts the Littlewood Classic Feb. 14-16. The Sun Devils will open the classic with a Friday doubleheader featuring games against Illinois St. and 2019 NCAA Super Regional participant, Kentucky. ASU will continue their home-stand with another doubleheader on Saturday featuring Detroit Mercy and a rematch vs. Kentucky before ending the classic with a game against Boise State.
Following back-to-back home weekends, the Sun Devils will hit the road as they travel to Palm Springs, Calif., to compete in the 2020 Mary Nutter Classic. ASU will open the third weekend of play with a game against Auburn on Feb. 20, before facing San Diego and New Mexico on Feb. 21. The Sun Devils will end the weekend with games against 2019 WCWS participant Florida, and 2019 NCAA Madison Regional participant Notre Dame on Saturday, before closing their road-trip against Cal State Fullerton on Sunday, Feb. 23.
The Sun Devils will return to Farrington Stadium the following weekend to host the Sun Devil Classic. Action will get underway with a Friday Big-10 doubleheader against Maryland and Wisconsin, before a Saturday doubleheader featuring Southern Utah and a second matchup against the Badgers. The classic will conclude with a second meeting against Maryland on Sunday afternoon.
The 2019 ASU Invitational will kick off the week of March 5-8, starting with a game against Wright St. on Thursday, before taking on New Mexico State on Friday night. ASU will host Nebraska and Lehigh in a Saturday doubleheader, before closing out the weekend with a doubleheader against Lehigh and Ohio State on Sunday.
Arizona State will host South Dakota in a midweek matchup on March 10th, in the Sun Devils' final tune-up before beginning Pac-12 play.
The Sun Devils will kick off conference play on Mar. 13, as they travel to UCLA for a three-game road series.
Following the first weekend of Pac-12 play, the Sun Devils will be back at Farrington to host in-state rival Arizona in a Territorial Cup Series match-up, Mar. 20-22.
ASU will continue their Pac-12 slate the following weekend with a trip to Utah to face the Utes, Mar. 27-29.
After a weekend on the road, the Sun Devils will return home to Farrington Stadium for a six-game home-stand that will see them host Washington, Apr. 3-5 and Oregon, Apr. 9-11. ASU will then take on Grand Canyon University, in a midweek matchup on Tuesday, Apr. 14.
The Sun Devils will then hit the road for the final time, Apr. 17-19, to take on Oregon State, before traveling to Cal for their last set of road games, May 1-3.
The Sun Devils will end the 2020 regular season at Farrington with a home series against Stanford on May 7-9. During that weekend, the team will honor the 2020 senior class.
