CORAL SPRINGS, Florida – The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) released their third edition of the Coaches Poll this morning, with Sun Devil Women's Golf tabbed as the No. 3 team in the nation.
Arizona State moved up five spots from the No. 8 position in the previous poll released in September, since earning an impressive victory at the Stanford Intercollegiate to move into the Top-3. The Sun Devils (-10/842) picked up the program's 89th team championship since 1982, putting together their sixth-lowest score vs. par over 54 holes in school history. It was a total team effort that helped ASU earn its ninth title in the Missy Farr-Kaye era and the sixth overall victory for the program at the Stanford Intercollegiate, their first since 2009. The five-stroke win came over a field that featured No. 1 Stanford, No. 5 USC, No. 7 Florida, and No. 8 Arizona. The Maroon & Gold have finished in the Top-5 in all three tournaments, beating 16 Top-25 teams in the process, the second-most in the country.
Arizona State prepares for another stiff test, heading to Hawaii for the 2019 Pac-12 Preview. The tournament takes place Nov. 4-6 in Kailua Kona, Hawaii, as all 11 Pac-12 schools will compete in addition to Hawaii. This will be the seventh edition of the Pac-12 Preview, with the Sun Devils previously taking home the 2016 team title and Linnea Strom finishing second individually in 2015.
