SAN FRANCISCO – Freshman outside hitter Iman Isanovic was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week after a stellar performance for Arizona State volleyball over the weekend.
This is the fourth freshman of the week nod for ASU (11-8, 3-5 Pac-12) in program history. This is the first time receiving the honor since Macey Gardner won twice in 2012. On the year, this is ASU's second weekly award. Earlier this season, senior Courtney Leffel was named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week.
Isanovic had a career-high 20 kills in ASU's comeback win at No. 21 Washington State. After being down 2-0 in the match, the Sun Devils stormed back to win in five sets for their first ranked win of the season. The freshman from Bosnia and Herzegovina hit .356 in the match as well. The last ASU freshman to earn 20 or more kills in a match was teammate Ivana Jeremic in 2016.
Against No. 10 Washington, Isanoivc was second on the team in kills with 13, which tied her career high at the time. She also had four digs in the close loss.
Cal's Mima Mirkovic was the Pac-12 Player of the Week and Washington's Shayne McPherson was the defensive player of the week. For the full Pac-12 release, head to their website.
Arizona State is back home this weekend, taking on Oregon on Friday and Oregon State on Sunday. Tickets are available on SunDevilTickets.com.
